Teams
Congratulations to everybody that competed in the team trials, they have been long and difficult but finally we have decided on who should be where!! A big well done to each of you for all of the hard work you have put in; make us proud! I hope that everybody will turn up to competitions, both home and away, to support our three teams over the forthcoming season.
Non-Team Members
Don't forget that you can attend the Monday meetings in the Sofa Room in order to book your ride between 10am and 1pm. Do not feel that you have to ride each week, and get your friends to sign up and join too! Your 6th lesson will be paid for in full by you membership fees.
Committee
Your committee this year is here to make sure that everything runs smoothly for you, that you have a fun time and that any questions are answerd or problems are solved. Feel free to come and speak to any of us if you have a problem or just want a chat, we are always around. Visit the commitee page to learn more about who was elected and to find email addresses.
Sponsorship
This year we have, so far, managed to acquire two main sponsors. Willow Farm Saddlers are offering us a 15% in store discount as well as other bonuses, whilst The Saddlerack is generously providing us with a 10% discount. You will have been handed discount cards, which you must produce in store in order to gain your discount. If you know of any more sposorship or marketing ideas contact Alex Cravero, Marketing and Promotions, on ac261@kent.ac.uk

Welcome

Welcome! We are a fun bunch of horse riders who ride at University, catering for Student (and Staff) riders of all abilities. That includes even those who have never mounted a horse before, those who used to ride a long time ago and would love to do it again, and those who have never stopped riding from childhood. All are equally welcome, and we provide nurturing support especially for beginners.

As a club, our teams are nationally renowned in the BUSA leagues and we have had members compete excellently well at all levels both locally, regionally, BUSA Nationals and quite a few of our members even take it far enough to represent their countries. The main form of competition mainly involves a combination of show jumping and dressage. We always welcome new members onto the team once a year at the start of the session. Places on the team tend to be keenly contested, but the team rides always for glory.

For the fun riders, like myself, lessons are organised equally but separately on a weekly basis. Everybody is taken through their paces right from tacking up, to mounting, walk, trot, canter or even conquer gallop - it's always your decision. There are lessons indoors, and for the sunnier days, there is nothing more relaxing that a hack in the Stodmarsh Forest: some call it therapeutic; I would say it is simply brilliant. There is freedom of choice as well between a hack and a lesson.

We ride primarily at a BHS approved centre in Fordwich that is 10 minutes away from campus. The club arranges your lesson with the centre and provides transport via a system sustained by fellow students. Lessons are organised with average group sizes of up to 5 and, if you own your own horse, it is possible to arrange livery by contacting the yard.

Our teams, in a recent sponsorship deal, also ride at Willow Farm. The yard is situated 20 minutes away from the campus, and has a range of around 60 horses. With facilities including an indoor school, tack shop and cafe area, it makes for a fantastic social experience that allows all of our team members to improve their riding whilst enjoying themselves as much as possible.

The Equestrian Club is famous for our Social events which include a fantastic package such as Gymkhanas, Manhunts, and the very popular Pub hack (A themed 3 Mile ride through the country to a neighbouring village on horse back for a pint of local beer and back in groups of 16 riders). The same applies to our unrivalled Annual and Christmas Dinners. This club is the place for you if you seek a community that plays hard and keeps a vibrant social life.

Meetings
We meet every Monday from 10am to 1pm in the red Sofa Room in Keynes where you can book rides, socials and chat with us about anything that is on your mind.

You can keep track of anything you have ordered from the club now with our new orders page!

Mailing List

The Club has a mailing list through which we announce all rides, social activities and many other things.

We normally subscribe you when you put down your email address at the Freshers' Fair. In case you join the club later, we're happy to add you to the list. Come to one of our meetings in the red Sofa Room in Keynes, or send an email to the committee.

If you're receiving mails from our list without your consent, then you may inadvertently have been signed up at the Freshers' Fair! In this case, please unsubscribe by sending an email to list-manager@kent.ac.uk with the line "unsubscribe ridesoc-members MyAddress@kent.ac.uk" in the message body. Please substitute your own email address for MyAddress
